Logitech H110

Logitech H110 headset

  • SmallTalk includes the Koss Portapro, the best lightweight headset available. Excellent sound quality maximizes immediate and carryover fluency. Very comfortable, easy to put on and take off. Use it in stressful situations such as public speaking or job interviews, then take it off and work on your carryover fluency.
  • Basic Fluency System and School DAF include a Logitech H110 headset. This headset has very good sound. Use it for therapy practice or on telephone calls and in Zoom meetings.
Platrronics MX100-S

Plantronics MX100-S earphones

Plantronics MX100 earphone and microphone

Plantronics MX-100 earset

  • SmallTalk includes a Plantronics MX100-S binaural (two ears) wired earphones with microphone.
  • Basic Fluency System includes Plantronics MX100 monaural (one ear) wired earphone with microphone.
Lavalier microphone, bone conduction headphones
  • SmallTalk and Basic Fluency System include a lavalier (lapel) microphone with bone conduction headphones.
AirFly Bluetooth adapter

SmallTalk and Basic Fluency System include an AirFly wireless adapter to connect Bluetooth® headphones (not microphones). 200 millisecond latency is effective for persons who stutter severely who need to slow down to one-second per syllable slow, stretched speech (about five times slower than normal speech). If you talk at a normal speaking rate with a delay of 200 milliseconds, you will learn to ignore the DAF and the device will become ineffective. See our optional short latency Bluetooth transceiver (below) for connecting headphones and microphone for normal rate speech.

Connects to

SmallTalk and Basic Fluency System include a USB-C connector to use microphone and headphones on Zoom calls on laptops and to connect headphones to iPhone (15+) and Android phones and use your phone’s microphone. Tell us what phone you have and we’ll provide connectors for microphone and headphones to:

  • USB-C iPhone (15+)
  • USB-C Android
  • Lightning iPhone (14 and earlier)
  • Landline with standard 2.5mm headset jack
  • Landline with Cisco RJ-9 headset jack
  • USB-A computer

The School DAF does not connect to phones or laptops.

Batteries:

The SmallTalk includes a 400 mAH rechargeable battery that lasts eight to ten hours. The battery is custom made for us and is difficult to ship overseas. It wears out in a few years. We don’t recommend that foreign customers buy the SmallTalk.

The Basic Fluency System and School DAF includes 2200 mAH rechargeable batteries. These powerful batteries need to recharged about once a week. These are standard 14500 batteries, available anywhere in the world. Sales to some state programs and some overseas distributors includes a 500 mAH 9V nonrechargeable battery.

Optional accessories:

This is a blank line.

  • Basic Fluency System only: Masking manual button generates a 110 Hz sine wave that pulls stutterers out of silent blocks. Rarely needed, almost no persons who stutter get silent blocks with DAF/FAF.

Iasus NT5 throat microphone
Throat microphone with acoustic coil earpiece
  • Use the Iasus NT5 throat microphone to develop vocal fold awareness and control while rejecting background sounds. Includes two earpieces: the stealthy monaural (one ear) acoustical coil (pictured with older NT3 throat microphone) and black binaural (two ears) earbuds. You can plug in any other earphones, including bone conduction headphones.

Bluetooth earset
  • We make our own duplex Bluetooth® transceivers using rare 2003 Bluetooth chips, with a one-way latency of 17 milliseconds and a two-way latency of 34 milliseconds. Combined with the SmallTalk’s minimum delay of 30 milliseconds, the delay is as short as 64 milliseconds and you can talk at a normal speaking rate. We pair these with Bluetooth earsets so there’s no need to wear a wired microphone. These transceivers are difficult to make and unreliable. They won’t pair with some of the newest Bluetooth earphones. The monaural (one ear) Bluetooth earsets don’t train long-term carryover fluency. We don’t recommend this solution.

Warranty:

  • 100% moneyback, 60 days if you are trained by an SLP
  • 90% moneyback, 30 days if you don’t get training

We have this dual warranty to motivate you to get training. Only customers who haven’t been trained to use their devices call us wanting to return them. When we tell them they’ll get more money back if they get training most make an appointment with an SLP. Then they are happy with their devices. Our return rates are less than 1% annually. Training with an SLP is at the customer’s expense. Any SLP who practices fluency shaping therapy can train you to use our devices.
